This flip chart is designed to accompany the skill bag for Level 1- Unit 6 (Deserts) of RIGOR (Reading Instructional Goals for Older Readers). It will take you and your students step by step through each of the 5 days of instruction and contains activities for phonemic awareness, blending sounds, spelling, tier 1 and tier 2 vocabulary, reading strategies, reading comprehension, shared and interactive writing. This flip chart was designed for English language learners and therefore has many scaffolds embedded that can be used or taken out. For example, the Tier 2 vocabulary is translated into several languages.
