What educators are saying

I love using task cards any chance I get. These were great to use with my students while working with them online. These would be great for in-person learning as well. Thanks so much!
I love any activity that gets the students up and moving. I used them where the students moved around to each question/problem. There are enough that it can be used individually or split into stations.

Description

Use these 40 task cards with your students to help them practice solving real-world RATIONAL NUMBERS word problems.

What is Included:

This resource includes 40 task cards, a student answer sheet, and an answer key. Your students will love working with these task cards.

How to Use:

I place one task card on each of my students' desks and give them 2-3 minutes to complete the problem and record their answers on their answer sheets. Once time is up I have my students "scoot" to the next desk to solve the new problem. The students LOVE doing this activity because it gets them moving. I highly recommend printing these task cards and answer key on card stock. Laminate them if possible so that they can be used for years. These task cards are perfect for reinforcing concepts through individual student practice, pair-share, early finishers, interactive math notebooks, and assessment prep.

✔ adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing positive and negative FRACTIONS

Apply and extend previous understandings of addition and subtraction to add and subtract rational numbers; represent addition and subtraction on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram.
Describe situations in which opposite quantities combine to make 0. For example, a hydrogen atom has 0 charge because its two constituents are oppositely charged.
Understand 𝘱 + 𝘲 as the number located a distance |𝘲| from 𝘱, in the positive or negative direction depending on whether 𝘲 is positive or negative. Show that a number and its opposite have a sum of 0 (are additive inverses). Interpret sums of rational numbers by describing real-world contexts.
Understand subtraction of rational numbers as adding the additive inverse, 𝘱 – 𝘲 = 𝘱 + (–𝘲). Show that the distance between two rational numbers on the number line is the absolute value of their difference, and apply this principle in real-world contexts.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract rational numbers.
