Description

It took me about four days, but this slide show, complete with timed animation and a clearly written script teaches students how to write better explanations when using the RACE format. It will also help students improve the content of their body paragraphs when writing informational, analytical, and argument essays.

I have included notes on each slide so that you can go through and deliver the instruction the same way that I did when I made a video of the slide show using Screencastify. I would upload the video here, but then I would have to buy the premium subscription, and I don't yet have enough product to do that. If you want access to the video, contact me at vickie.moriarity@bath.kyschools.us and I will send you a link. Also, you may find that you want to customize this slide show to connect more with your own students.

If you practice the presentation a few times, you should be able to replicate my video. Additionally, you can change any of the elements in the slide show to fit your demographic. My students are crazy about UK basketball here in Kentucky which is why I chose Dick Vitale's commentary, but your students might be more interested in football or soccer. Just change out the YouTube sports commentary and analyze it in the same way I did with Vitale's commentary, and you will have a custom made product unique for your student population.

I had a lot of fun making this. However, it is really time-consuming to create! Because it is such a tough concept to teach, I wanted to share this with others who may be struggling in the same way my students have! I tried to price my work reasonable as I tend to limit my TPT purchases to $5.00 or less. I hope you think this is a quality product. If you have any questions, please reach out and I will help!
