What educators are saying

Used this in my creating writing class to practice dialogues. Great resource. Students were really creative with it.
We used this when we were learning about dialogue. We practiced with this first and then learned how to add quotation marks.

Description

Quotation Marks Cartoon Creative Writing Unit Just Add Dialogue Worksheets

Kids love cartoons! One fun way to get them thinking about adding dialogue and quotation marks in their writing is to provide a format that inspires creative thought.

This unit consists of 26 printable worksheets that can be used in a number of ways.

There are 10 different cartoons with no dialogue added. Students add their own dialogue - either by writing sentences at the bottom of the page, or by using word bubbles.

I have provided comics in both formats, so you can use the cartoon to meet your plans.

Aside from inspiring higher level thinking skills, the activities can be used to teach the proper use of capitalization and punctuation in sentence form.

I have also included 6 free write pages, allowing your students to create their own cartoons, or write a story about a cartoon they have created.
