Quilt Block Fractions Math Activity Great for Oregon Trail Studies and Symmetry

This set has 13 different quilt block fractions worksheets. These math coloring worksheets are hands-on, use manipulatives, and also come in SMART Board interactive format. A SMART Board is NOT needed to use the lessons but is sure is more exciting for students if you're lucky to have one!

Students use critical thinking skills to design and color symmetrical quilt blocks that have the correct fraction of the quilt block covered.

There are 13 different worksheets with different quilt block sizes and designs with answer keys.

Three of the worksheets are open-ended challenge quilt blocks where students create their own symmetrical designs and make their answer keys.

Each worksheet has manipulative pieces and answer keys. These lessons are perfect to enrich your Oregon Trail pioneer, math, and art studies. There are 52 pages of PDF print materials in all.

This unit would make the perfect set to leave for a substitute! No prep for you as it it's a stand-alone unit students would be engaged in.

The best part for SMART Board users is . . . these lessons are also provided in a really cool, interactive 32-slide SMART Board format. Each worksheet and quilt block is shown with infinite cloning of quilt pieces so students can easily design, drag and drop, rotate and rearrange their quilt blocks to create symmetrical designs. Answer keys are also provided in SMART Board format, as are sample quilt designs for each worksheet. Quilt designs are also shown repeated and rotated to create different beautiful quilt patterns and designs.
