Description
Admin wants you to teach music quietly? It sounds like a joke, but during state testing season, it's a reality. So if you find yourself in this position, here are a variety of quiet music lessons that you can choose from that will keep your students engaged and quiet.
PS-- They also work if you're teaching from a cart or in the teachers' classrooms during the testing season!
All of these activities are print and go and can be used individually or in small groups. They cover concepts like rhythm, solfege, treble clef, and instruments of the orchestra. Plus, they are fun!
Flower Meter Sort: Sort the rhythms by the number of beats. Match the petals with the number of beats onto the stems with the time signatures.
Color by note: Color the worksheets by the rhythm or the treble clef notes. Helps identify rhythms and the students love to color.
Instruments of the Orchestra popsicle matching game: Match the instrument picture, the name, and the instrument family name to create the popsicles.
Write the Room Quarter and Eighth: Have students walk around the room and read, play, or write the rhythms on the cards.
Roll a Measure rhythm game: Students race to be the first person to create 2 full measures of rhythms by rolling dice.
Spring Rhythm Manipulatives: Create rhythms and measures with Spring themed icons like bee, rain cloud, tulip, bunny rabbit, butterfly, and more.
Treble Clef Composition: Create treble clef patterns with the letters and words. Add the notes and the manipulatives on the staff.
Solfege Composition: Pull a solfa card, add the manipulatives to the staff. Includes spring manipulatives like butterflies and birds.
