Personal dictionaries for students! Each page has some commonly used words that start with that letter - much more manageable than big, bulky dictionaries. There are also lines for students to add their own words. Ideal for Writer's Workshop, supporting independence during writing, and ANY grade level.
This can be printed in two versions - whole pages and stapled, or select the booklet feature on your copier/printer to print as half pages half pages to fold into a mini book.
How to Use this Resource:
Each student receive their own copy. It's fun to start by adding their classmates' names! Ideally, students would have this resource out during writing time to support independence. They can look up words they are unsure of, use it as inspiration for their writing, and check spellings they are unsure about.
You can also use this with students to solidify alphabetical order, using homophones correctly, and number words.
My students thrived during writing once they got past being so overly focused on spelling! Before using this guide, student would stop writing because they didn't know how to spell a word. Now, they are able to be resourceful and independent thinkers. It also made them realize that words are all around, not just in this resource, but in the classroom. They look for words to add to their personalized word wall books all the time!
