What educators are saying

What a great way to put all that we know on one piece of paper. I also liked the true and false around the edge, because that's what really trips the kids up!
These doodles were perfect for my students. They loved having all the vocab in one place and could also see the relationships to all the shapes.

Description

Quadrilaterals guided math notes about properties of quadrilaterals are more engaging with this math wheel note-taking format. You can enlarge the math wheel and use it as a quadrilateral poster or anchor chart as you guide students in note-taking - or after note-taking is completed.

What is a math doodle wheel? A math wheel is a type of graphic organizer where students can:

  • Take notes inside the math wheel
  • Use color, drawing, and doodling to help create memory triggers
  • Complete practice problems in the pattern around the wheel, and
  • Color the background pattern

Students can keep these graphic organizers in their interactive notebooks all year as a resource/study tool.

  • The wheels are also excellent for reviewing concepts as part of test prep.

The Quadrilaterals wheel sections include:

1) Quadrilateral, with a diagram

2) Trapezoid

3) Parallelogram

4) Rectangle

5) Square

6) Rhombus

This easy-to-use quadrilaterals resource includes:

1) THREE versions of the wheel, with different ‘levels’ of notes:

  • One ‘open,’ with notes to be written in
  • One with fill-in-the-blanks for the notes, to help control the amount of space students use
  • One with pre-filled notes for students who need this (these do not include examples or answers)

2) Teacher key/wheel with completed notes and examples

3) Colored sample of wheel

4) A PowerPoint file that has a blank wheel with background, so you can add text to make your own math wheels, if you’d like (for classroom use only - not commercial use).

Features of this easy-to-use resource:

  • Notes sections and examples (notes are suggestions, and you can alter them or use other examples that better fit your instruction if you’d like)
    • Each section includes a sample shape. My sample notes list the characteristics of each quadrilateral. You can add to those notes or rephrase – my notes are just suggestions.
  • Guided or independent practice
    • Around the circle are 6 True/False statements. You can have students write the correct answer (true/false) or have them color the true statements one color and the false another, for easy checking (in my sample, the true statements are purple and the false statements are blue).
  • Coloring/doodling opportunity: students can color the background pattern, as well as the headings and doodle arrows
