What educators are saying

I used this with my honors Geometry class. I like how it forces them to solve each problem, but then it has a writing component. I like how it makes them reflect on what they would do in the situation.
My students loved this activity and was a great way for them to see how it might be used. This tied in great with our science department as they then had to creat their own roller coaster.

Description

This Pythagorean Theorem project based learning activity is designed for Google Classroom, and includes traditional print options as well. It will engage students by asking them to determine the lengths of the highest drops of some of the most well-known roller coasters in the country!

Students use the vertical drop and horizontal distance traveled to determine the length on the tracks of ten different coasters. They will love seeing coasters they might be familiar with, and photos and facts about each are included.

This digital resource was created for distance learners, but a printable PDF is included, as well as an answer key. Text-boxes are ready to go in the digital version, making this a truly no-prep activity!
