Description

This Pumpkin Day event is something your upper elementary students will remember for years to come! It's an all-day educational event with the exception of specials classes, but it can also be modified for just a morning or an afternoon. It all depends on you, your grade level and your administrator. My entire grade level has gotten involved every year!

★ Included are teacher instructions/preparation and a student instruction sheet. A total of 5 stations are included, with an option of a Station 6.

It's a perfect way to include Math, Language Arts, and Science as well as overall creativity and teamwork-all in a day!

★ Stations are as follows:

Morning Work Station - an acrostic poem

Station 1 - Around the Middle (Math)

Station 2 - Same or Different (Science)

Station 3 - Sink or Float / Weigh In (Science)

Station 4 - Pumpkin Seed Investigation (Science)

Station 5 - A Variety of Activities (2 Language Arts, 5 different options for Math, and 1 Creativity added in for some extra fun!)

Station 6 - Pumpkin Roll (just for fun!)

★ Signs are included for each station as well as a pennant for the hallway.

Includes black and white copies for students!

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
A square with side length 1 unit, called “a unit square,” is said to have “one square unit” of area, and can be used to measure area.
A plane figure which can be covered without gaps or overlaps by 𝘯 unit squares is said to have an area of 𝘯 square units.
