Description

Engage students with primary sources for them to point of view of Native Americans in the Spanish colonies. This resource looks at the revolt of Native Americans against Spanish rule in the Americas. It is paired nicely with Bartolomé de Las Casas Primary Source Reading Questions where students can first read how the Native Americans were treated through the Bartolomé de Las Casas Primary Source and see how some responded with the Pueblo Revolt Primary Source Reflection Questions. The questions for the Bartolomé de Las Casas Primary Source are specific, allowing students to learn how to extract important information from the reading, while the questions for this resource are open-ended, allowing students to learn to develop their own thoughts and defend them with evidence from the readings.

Included:

  • Teacher Guide:
    - Includes step by step instructions of how to conduct the lesson and where to find the reading *(due to copyright laws, the reading itself cannot be sold but can be found online with instruction of where to find it in the Teacher Guide)
  • Student Handout: Pueblo Revolt Primary Source Reflection Questions

The student handout can either be printed out or is ready to use as a digital resource. It is currently in a google doc format that can be used right away through platforms such as Google Classroom or can be downloaded as a pdf, word doc, etc. It is designed to be ready to use for remote or hybrid learning!
