Public Speaking -- Impromptu Speeches: Fake Words

Each slide contains a prompt with a fake word. Students have to give an impromptu speech responding to the prompt as if the fake word is a real thing. I use this as an ice-breaker in my public speaking class, but it could also be used as a creative writing assignment. I do this assignment in public speaking within the first week of the class so students can gain confidence in speaking and start working on dropping filler words. There are 36 different prompts in this PowerPoint plus two slides for students explaining what to do.
