Description
Students will learn about Public Service Announcements including examples with links, persuasive techniques used, and how to create their very own! The PowerPoint and other Public Service Announcement handouts created by me are all aligned with the CCSS. I provide I CAN statements at the beginning of this powerpoint to set the stage for learning! This is a useful tool for covering presentation standards, analyzing the purpose of information in different types of media, evaluating motives like social, commercial, evaluating a speaker's argument or claim and evidence that supports it, presenting their own claims, integrating multimedia and visual displays, and adapting speech to a variety of tasks! This is set up for the 8th grade language art's standards, however it can be easily adapted to fit grades above or below! Included are my Public Service Announcement Intro. Presentation in BOTH PowerPoint and Google Slides versions(fully editable), and Google Slides/PDF versions of Student Note Outline for PowerPoint, links to video examples of PSAs that the students will analyze in the PowerPoint, a PSA Poster model, PSA Poster Assignment, PSA Poster Rubric, Group Script Outline for creating the video, Group Member Evaluation, 2 detailed options for PSA Video Rubrics, Audience Analysis to use during presentations, & a Teacher Guide! This is everything you need for a successful and engaging unit that will help prepare and hook students for persuasive/argumentative writing and/or as an extension at the end! Students love watching their videos and analyzing their peer's PSAs! This project not only covers the standards, but it incorporates use of technology, encourages creativity, cooperative learning environment, designing, development of speaking skills, & so much more. Also great for a culminating, end of year, hands on, L.A. project! Enjoy!
*Please know that there are many links and examples to show students embedded into the PPT, however you MUST have access to YouTube at your school to view/show some of them. Thanks!
