Psychology Unit 1: History, Subfields, & Freud Bundle!

This bundle includes the first unit for a psychology class. I start with the curriculum map that outlines the order and depth into which I delve into topics in my psychology class.

• The first lesson is about the history of the discipline of psychology, going into experiments that have been done in the past and how different cultures have explained thought and behavior.

• The second lesson goes into the modern field of psychology and the different perspectives people approach human thought and behavior with. This lesson also includes careers in the psychological field.
  
• The third lesson introduces the most famous psychologist of all time: Freud. It covers the basics of his theories, you may want to review the last few slides on this one to make sure you want cover that material. It is not for sensitive audiences.
  
• Diving a little deeper into Freud, the fourth lesson is on defense mechanisms, it defines and gives examples of what several defense mechanisms look like.
  
• The fifth lesson introduces psychological experimentation and how that should be approached. It covers independent & dependent variables in psychological experiments. As well as experimental groups and control groups.
  
• The sixth lesson talks about ethics. My students love to learn about past experiments that have been conducted that were not ethical. This lesson includes some of those as examples of what not to do and outlines principles to follow for an experiment to be ethical.
