Psychology: Motivation and Emotion- 14 day bundle
This 14 day bundle includes highly interactive lessons covering various topics related to motivation and emotion. A free unit test is also included!
Day 1 includes: Gallery Walk about the different theories of motivation. This lesson gets students moving!
Day 2 includes: An introduction to the different theories of motivation. Related vocabulary like instinct and drive will be covered, as well as different theories of motivation such as: drive-reduction theory and extrinsic v. intrinsic motivation.
Day 3 includes: A more in-depth understanding of the arousal theory of motivation. Students will not only learn all about the arousal theory but also homeostasis and how to motivate others. Students will end the lesson with a fun digital project that shapes their understanding around motivation.
Day 4 includes: A more in-depth understanding around Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Students will not only learn all about the Hierarchy of Needs but put their understanding into practice.
Day 5 includes: Students will cover topics such as: the desire to succeed, grit, and the biology behind motivation. Students will also complete an experiment around evolutionary motivation. This experiment can lead to a rich discussion afterwards as well!
Day 6 and 7 includes: Students will read a case study and show their understanding of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. Students will read an article, underline the different level of needs, then find resources in THEIR area to address each need. This is great practice for student with how to research resources available in their own area! Answer key provided!
Day 8 includes: The James-Lange theory of emotion, The Cannon–Bard theory of emotion, The Charles Darwin theory of emotion, The two-factor theory of emotion, Zajonc theory of emotion, and Cognitive Appraisal Theory.
Day 9 includes: An in-depth understanding of the James-Lange Theory of Emotion. Students will participate in an experiment that measures bodily responses that are interpreted by the brain to produce an emotion. Students will then practice their understanding around basic emotions with three different activities.
Day 10 includes: An in-depth understanding of the psychology behind emotions. Students will learn about fear as an emotion, the reasons behind it and how the body reacts to it. Students will also learn about emotional expression, gender and cultural effects on emotion, positive and negative affect, and mood versus emotion.
Day 11 includes: Students will first read and answer information about the biological causes of anger. Then, students will identify their own triggers for anger by completing a self-analysis and engage in an academic conversation based on their questionnaire responses. Next, students will learn about different reactions to anger, the aggression cycle, stages of anger, and internal and external triggers for anger. Additionally, this lesson will cover topics such as the best way to prepare for anger, how anger affects teenagers differently, and the effects of progressive muscle relaxation on anger.
Day 12 and 13 include: Movie and Movie Guide: Inside Out ***You will need to have your own copy of the movie. I purchased it from Amazon Prime. $3.99 to rent or $19.99 to buy.
