Problem Solving - it's that math skill that students can always use extra practice with, but that there's never enough time to integrate as much as needed.

Problem Solving Through the Year was designed so that students get DAILY practice with problem solving while constantly previewing and reviewing the main four common core domains: Operations (Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/Division), Place Value, Measurement (including Time and Money), Geometry, and Data/Graphing.

This packet is set up so that there is a math problem for each day of the week. Each day covers a different domain (Monday=Operations, Tuesday=Place Value, Wednesday=Measurement/Time/Money, Thursday=Geometry, Friday=Data/Graphing). This format ensures that there is constant spiraling of the standards throughout the year. These word problems are perfect to use the first 5-minutes of your math block as a "brain start."

An interactive Table of Contents is included so that the resource can be projected electronically, saving you paper and copies! Students may use a math journal (spiral notebook or composition book) for recording their work, OR two problem solving mats are included in this packet which may be printed and laminated for reuse by students.

The March edition includes 5 weeks worth of word problems with a ST. PATRICK'S DAY theme. Each month the word problems will have a new seasonal/monthly theme to keep students interested. Difficulty level will also pick up from month to month as the skills build on each other.
