Syllables and Affixes Spellers Unlock the List
Unlock the List is an innovative fill-in-the-blank spelling printable activity that transforms your typical phonics or spelling word sort into a fun, challenging puzzle that's designed to ignite 3rd and 4th grade students' curiosity and enhance their spelling skills.
With Unlock the List, students encounter their weekly or bi-weekly spelling word list with missing letters (vowels, word parts, affixes, inflected endings, silent consonants, prefixes, suffixes, etc.) and are challenged to "unlock the list" by filling in the blanks. It's a brain-filled exercise that will have students employing their phonological and orthographic skills and tap into all of their prior knowledge of word letter patterns, word parts, and spelling rules to crack the code.
Use this as an entry point into students' next word study list or as an activity they complete once they've done their word sorts and been introduced to the word list.
Included in Syllables and Affixes Spellers Unlock the List:
✔ 3rd Edition: 58 missing letters/fill-in-the-blank word lists
✔ Answer Keys
✔ Teacher’s Guide including tips for implementing Unlock the List into your word study routine
