Description

A fun musical twist to The Tortoise and the Hare! Identify the Tempo to see who wins the race. No prep needed and self correcting! You can play this game as a class either in person or fully virtual, or send in present mode for students to play on their own. Need sub plans? You're covered!

After a quick review of presto and largo/ fast and slow, students will listen to the audio example on each slide and decide if it is presto or largo and click on either the tortoise or the hare to see who's turn it is to run. All while enjoying musical excerpts by Mozart, Beethovan, Rossini, Handel, and more!

If you choose to distribute to students to complete individually, I suggest publishing to web. (File>Publish to web>Publish) Then, just copy and paste the link. Tip: Add &rm=minimal to the end of the link to hide the tool bar so students can not auto advance through slides without answering correctly.

Please note, some districts block sound files that did not originate from within your organization from student accounts. If you plan to present this as a whole class activity from your own Google account, this should not be a problem. However, if you plan to distribute to students as an individual assignment, I have included a copy of the instrument sound files incase your district has restrictions.

Zip file includes:

  • "READ THIS FIRST" page that includes your force copy link to the game and video instructions on how to insert sound files if need be.
  • A folder with sound files
  • Terms of Use

There are 35 slides total.

Take it to the next level and learn even more tempo markings while having a fun dance party!:
