Presidents' Day Fun for Middle Schoolers! Now ready to use an EASEL activity!
This packet of six activities includes four logic puzzles, one cryptogram, and one grid drawing sheet. The puzzles are based on factual information about many different presidents. The puzzles vary in difficulty and are ready to print, copy, and use- no other prep necessary! An answer key and a few tips are included.
These puzzles are great to use as a filler activity, with a substitute, or after a test is given, and yet they will still challenge your students’ minds. I hope you enjoy these activities!
Puzzle 1: Presidential Ages- Find 5 president’s ages and home states.
Puzzle 2: Happy Birthday Mr. President- Find the birthdates and birth states of 4 presidents.
Puzzle 3: Other Presidents…- Find the first year in office, political party, and major achievement of four presidents not commonly known by middle school kids.
Puzzle 4: Show Me the Presidents!- Find the denominations of the bills that each president is on.
Puzzle 5: Cryptogram- Find 11 words related to the president or U.S. government and a quote from a president. When students finish the cryptogram, they can find the words in a word search along with the last names of 12 other presidents.
Puzzle 6- Grid drawing
BONUS: What’s a President Do? Use the descriptions of the 6 roles of the president to fill in a chart with 12 jobs performed under each role.
