Description

In this file you will get all the tools needed to teach the specific All About Me Unit. In this unit, students will learn and practice various concepts such as: fast/slow, top/bottom/middle, and happy/sad. They will also practice isolation of movements for hands, feet and eyes and the old classic of head, shoulders, knees and toes. Again, all movements are presented with multiple pictures to help with learning and teaching the movements. The benefits of each movement are lists and movement modifications are provided.
As will all of the themed units, there will be a unit cover page complete with a list of props and number of moves used. There will be detailed instructor's information including pictures of the movements to assist with learning them. Included in this instruction will be a list of the benefits of each movement. When appropriate, precautions are also listed. Also, when needed, hints for helping to spot or aide the students learning are included. Also, there will be specific moves modifications for those students with mobility issues such as Cerebral Palsy or significant motor delays, and modifications for those students with attention issues such as Autism or Down's syndrome. These modified sections also include pictures to assist with learning the movements. Being that this program can be modified, it is appropriate for all regular education and special education students in preschool and kindergarten. A quick reference cheat sheet is also included for each of the types of movements (typical, modified for mobility, and modified for attention). This will act as a visual reminder of the movements when teaching them to the classroom. This file also contains the pictures used to create a picture schedule. Finally, the necessary materials for any props will also be given. Please remember that these items usually only have to be created the first time you use each unit. Then they may be stored for future use.
Hope you enjoy this Movin' Up in Education, PLLC program of Preschool/Kinder Moves! Kelly L. Ramsdell, MS OTR/L
