    Description

    Do you want students to recall the meaning of common prefixes and suffixes? Help children understand prefixes and suffixes by introducing them as “families” with related meanings with the help of the posters.

    Your students explore the connections among the meanings of prefixes and suffixes through 13 different prefixes and suffixes families. Introduce over 50 affixes using these activities and posters! Teachers can use them to introduce or explore the related meaning of prefixes and suffixes. These 8.5 in x 11 in posters are only available in color.

    The activities in this resource can be completed at any time during the school year and do not include a recording sheet. Included are directions and answers key for each activity. The centers are available in color and black and white versions.


    About the Posters

    Introduce each affix “family” with these posters and display them in the classroom. They are great for students to reference as they break words into meaningful parts and explore the effects they can have on a word's meaning. Preview the posters to make sure it is right for your class.

    About the Center Activities

    During these vocabulary activities, students match the prefixes or suffixes to their meaning through familiar games such as Bingo, Dominoes, and sorts. There are ten center activities for prefixes and five center activities for suffixes that focus on recalling the meaning of common affixes. These activities focus solely on the meaning of related prefixes and suffixes. Preview the different products in this bundle to ensure it is right for your class.

    This set of center activities and posters benefits all learners, from ELL and special education to academically gifted students. Students who struggle with vocabulary will be introduced to common prefixes and suffixes, while more advanced students explore the connections of affixes within their meanings.
