Description
This FlipChart can be used to introduce Power Writing and for modeling how to complete the organizer.
The 3rd page shows the levels of support in a different visual. You can explain to students how the P3s are the most specific details, and they support the P2s which in return all support the P1.
The fourth page shows a completed Power Writing Organizer on My Favorite Activities During Summer. You can choose to leave these in place, or you can move the items to the side and have the students look at the sentences and phrases and sort (drag) them appropriately on the organizer.
The 5th page shows a map of the U.S. and the title links to a short TweenTribune article. You can read this article with your students, and as a class brainstorm why or why not tablets should replace textbooks in schools.
There are several pages of blank Power Writing templates on the FlipChart for other topics you would like to model. There is also a page with blank lines. I use this after the students have independently (or in groups) completed their Power Writing graphic organizer. I model how to take their organizer and turn the P2s into topic sentences and the P3s into senteces with supporting details.
