Power Series Lecture (Scaffolded + Full Notes) - Integral Calculus 2 Lesson

This Integral Calculus lecture (pdf) introduces the students to the topic of Power Series.

Sub-topics included are:

• Definition of the power series centred at a.
• Definition of the radius of convergence and the interval of convergence.
• Finding the radius of convergence and interval of convergence given a power series.

Plus: many examples regarding these topics throughout.

The first 4 pages are filled-in version of the lecture notes to be used by the instructor.

The last 4 pages is a fill-in-the blank (scaffolded) format that the students can fill out during the lecture. There are also example questions interspersed throughout the lecture where students can work on (either in groups or individually).

The scaffolded notes can be photocopied on a transparency and filled out in class by the teacher (and to be copied by the students). Alternately, the filled-in notes can be used as stand-alone lecture notes.
