Description

I use this project to fulfill the course requirement for a research project for the national standards for Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics, although this could be used in a Civics class, as well. The project requires students to choose a government policy, research and evaluate the current implementation of the selected policy, and to make a policy proposal moving forward, based on their evaluative research. Following their research, students prepare a presentation where they present their findings and make an evidence and research-based argument regarding the policy’s future. In my particular classes, I group students based on their political leanings, so that the policy discussions and proposals should be easier than a group with diverging political stances. This file includes the project assignment handout, a presentation grading rubric, and a peer/self evaluation form.
