The activities included in this resource have been designed with the intention of teaching students how to:

✔ Determine the different characters’ points of view (perspectives)

✔ Compare/contrast viewpoints among the characters

✔ Determine with which character they (the students) agree and provide supporting reasons

✔ Determine from which point of view the story is narrated and analyze how this is helpful to the reader or why the author chose to tell the story from this perspective

✔ Infer how the story would be different if narrated from a different point of view

✔ Provide support for different points of view given various situations related to the story

✔ Determine important details that support all of the above skills

Lessons encompass both Point of View RL3.6 & RL4.6 but for 4th grade it is a great review of 3.6 along with an activity that has students thinking about how narration influences how a story is told.

☕ Teacher's Note: Answer keys are provided when applicable and offer instructional guidance for those activities.

☕ Instructions to go digital are included.

✅ If you are need of step-by-step activities for introducing or reviewing point of view / perspective through close reading passages, you can grab these essentials.
