What educators are saying

Great activity to get students talking in small groups and reinforcing the connections between the equations & graphs.

Description

In this cooperative activity, students will match equations in point-slope form to graphs of lines. What makes this activity unique is that it focuses on writing multiple equations for the same line, a common area of confusion for students.

There are two equations that match to each graph. When students are done matching, they will use a third point on each line to write a third equation, so students will get practice writing equations from scratch.

This activity is extremely engaging, especially when you break out the scissors and glue! Students can arrange their work on posters to hang up in the classroom, or you can simply have them complete the activity on their desks (without glue or posters) and you can check their work on the spot using the attached answer key.

This activity works for an Algebra 1 classroom, or as a review for Algebra 2 students of point-slope form.

Have fun!
