What educators are saying

A fantastic resource with a great selection of examples. I am incredibly impressed and grateful for this collection. Thank you!
Used these with some English lesson I was assigned this year - kids really liked them. Saved me heaps of time and trying to come up with something myself. Thanks.

    Description

Are looking for engaging writing poetry activities to engage your poetry writers? This complete poetry writing activities bundle includes a variety of engaging types of poetry formats. When writing poems, students will experience analizyng poems, figurative language, vocabulary, parts of the speech, and poetry elements.

In this bundle, there is a mentor poem per each format as well as final copy pages for their final poem. Poems come in different styles and formats that for sure make the writing poetry process meaningful, fun, and engaging.

Each poem topic is perfect for any time of the year to get to know more about your students as individuals and also to support their writing and vocabulary skills.

Each stanza is built as a paragraph frame that scaffolds the development of the poem giving the student the opportunity to create poetry in a fun way.

These poems are a great addition to:

    • Any Poetry unit
    • Poetry writing centers
    • Poetry anthology independent work project
    • Poem of the week
    • Poetry guided group
    • Whole class poetry writing

The poems provide the right scaffolding for students to become successful poets!

    These are also great for:

    • Back to School Poetry
    • Fall activities
    • Christmas projects
    • Spring Poetry
    • End of the Year projects.

It does not need any preparation, but just the guidelines to complete it. Every activity includes a mentor poem in color and black and white, a planning page to scaffold the writing poetry process, and writing pages to publish their final poem.

This can also be a year-long project. As students complete each poem, they can add it to their poetry folder. Once they collect all the poems, they can ensemble them as an anthology book or they can type each poem, print them, and illustrate each poem in their anthology.

I have used this collection in different ways including a year-long project, a poem of the week, poetry galleries, Back to School week, etc.

Use the paper for the final copy or let the students create their own border. Students really love sharing their final Anthology and celebrating their success.
