Poetry Tasting Acitivity

This Poetry Tasting activity is a great interactive way for students to become more engaged and excited about reading poetry. I have students complete this activity after I have introduced the Elements of Poetry. I decorate the room with table clothes plates, and books, and have students work together to "Taste" new poems from an assortment of poetry books and printed poems. I have them practice identifying the elements such as stanzas, lines, refrain, rhyme scheme etc.
