Description

This bundle is perfect for a general music/music appreciation unit on the blues, or for a band director who may need strategies for beginning improvisation with a jazz band. Included in the bundle:

Singing the Blues:

8-page Google slide deck which covers form, scat, how to write your own blues lyrics, and includes six embedded videos

Writing Blues Lyrics:

Worksheet with a review on traits of blues songs, instructions for writing blues lyrics, and links to background tracks

Playing the Blues:

13-page Google slide deck which covers blues tonality, improvisation including step-by-step instructions on learning to improvise using the Bb Blues Scale, printed Bb blues scale for every instrument, keyboard images of the Bb blues scale, links to background tracks, 3 embedded videos, and written call-and-response licks for teachers to use for improvisation practice with their ensemble.

The improvisation methods can transfer to any blues scale. The Bb Blues scale is included here, but if you need a different blues scale do not hesitate to contact me at bethdaviesmusic@gmail.com
