Description
Play is the work of a child. Get your students active, up, and moving at home with this alternative to traditional homework that encourages active play and fitness. Not only will you be encouraging play at home, but also a healthy active lifestyle.
Active Kids includes 24 fit-tac-toe menus with 6 choices each. There are two options:
~Menus labeled by month (2 per month)
~ Menus without monthly labels (allows flexibility) If you are not a year-round school, there are 4 additional menus (July and August) that you can use!
Send a new menu home with kids each month and allow them to pick their activities! Months with holidays (example: November) also include some holiday-themed activities, like a turkey race! I have included activities for both indoors and outdoors! The activities are creative, fun, and also encourage creative thinking and family time!
Examples of activities
~garden yoga
~Rockstar signing/ dancing activity
~tag games
~Alphabet Games
~indoor fitness games (example: indoor broomstick hockey)
and SO much more!
Active Kids is perfect for classroom teachers and physical education teachers! It meets the needs for students in grades K-3 This can also be used as a school-wide fitness program!
How does it work?
~Send home the parent letter that is included
~ Send home two menus per month (they are B&W, you can print them on colored paper if you would like!) OR pass them out to students as-needed (use the menus without monthly labels!)
~Students choose the activities to complete
~Students fill out a ticket for the week and month included in the product and return it to you.
~Tickets go into a "Fit Kid Challenge" bucket
~Pick a ticket each week (or several)... these students win a prize from the price menu included. All prizes are "free" (ex: pick your own seat for the day)
~Motivation: the more tickets students submit, the better chance they have at winning!
