What educators are saying

I like these handouts for helping parents incorporate practice at home. They are parent friendly and include multiple ideas for families.
Great resource to help with targeting sounds in therapy. Love that there are practice sheets that can be sent home.

    Description

    Do you work in early intervention or with a preschool population and need speech therapy activities that can easily be incorporated in naturalistic play? Or maybe you're looking for a way to combine speech and language goals and send home fun ideas for carryover in the home environment?

    Not all children are suitable for "drill-play" therapy activities using articulation cards. These idea-filled sheets featuring later developing sounds can support the SLP to engage in more play-based therapy with a list of words and activities featuring the target sound they are working on.

    Each page is organized around different language themes:

    • Verbs - a page full of actions to use in play (e.g., saw, see, sit, search, send)
    • Nouns - a page featuring names, things, and places (e.g., soap, circle, sandwich)
    • Adjectives - a page filled with describing activities (e.g., silly, soft, sore, sick)

    Each page contains approximately 25 word targets, equaling about 75 target words to use in play for each sound. The word lists also contain the target sound in the initial and final positions. If you've ever struggled to think up "words on the spot", these sheets can be an easy reference to help guide, shape, and plan your speech therapy session.

    With four sheets per sound, you can:

    1. Print and staple and send all home
    2. Send each sheet home one by one
    3. Send the everyday lists and treasure hunt pages to slowly increase parent engagement.

    DOWNLOAD THIS RESOURCE IF YOU WANT TO:

    ❶ -- Target speech sounds in a more naturalistic, play-based environment

    ❷ -- Incorporate speech and language goals in your session or in mixed groups and preschool programs

    ❸ -- Use focused stimulation and auditory bombardment

    ❹ -- Help set up a naturalistic play setting for you to assess the target sounds in conversation

    ❺ -- Support families to complete home practice using everyday play tasks

    ⭐ These sheets can be particularly useful for early intervention and preschool-aged children with speech and/or language goals.⭐

    ===================================

    CONTENTS:

    ✅ -- Contains all speech sounds: m, n, h, w, y, p, b, t, d, f, k, g, ch, j, l, r, s, sh, th, v, z, 'l' clusters, 'r' clusters, and 's' clusters.

    ✅ -- Four activity-filled pages for each sound (approximately 75 words per sound).

    ✅ -- Tips and information for parents such as: how to go from words-phrases-sentences, how to model the speech sound, how to feedback correct vs. incorrect responses

    ✅ -- Everyday speech list for the fridge containing 9 core words that become part of the everyday home speech routine

    ✅ -- Treasure hunt list to look for your sounds outside the speech room

    ====================================

    The easiest way to use these sheets is to print the first 3 pages (verb/noun/adjective) for YOU. Read through the word lists and activity ideas and see what you have in your speech room. While activity ideas are suggested, you will have TONS more once you see the word lists and think, ‘I have those objects in my speech room’.

    What SLP's like you are saying:

    Helpful resource to provide some home practice ideas, especially for those little ones who don't engage in the sit down nature of lots of SSD tx.

    These are really brilliant sheets to share with parents. Love that all the information is displayed clearly and simply so they are accessible to all. It's also given me more ideas for play-based therapy sessions!

    These are some great pages that have already begun to inspire me for speech sessions and serve as a helpful resource to send home with parents who want to work on sounds with their child at home!
