Description

This is a set of 9 emergent readers for each of the planets. Each book is about 6-8 pages long and includes a few dominant characteristics of each planet. These are perfect for first grade and have very simple text and picture clues to help with the words.

Mercury:
Mercury is closest to the sun.
It is the smallest planet.
It is made of rock and dust.
Big rocks called asteroids made craters on Mercury.
It can be very cold at night.
It can be very hot in the day.

Venus:
Venus is the hottest planet.
It is planet number 2.
It is about the same size as Earth.
It is made of rock and has volcanoes.
There are clouds made of acid.
The air is so heavy it would crush you.

Earth:
Earth is planet number 3.
Earth has one moon.
The Earth is made of rock, soil, and water.
It has air that we can breathe.
It is not too hod and not too cold.
Earth is the only planet with animals and people.
It is the only planet where plants can grow.

Mars:
Mars is planet number 4.
It comes right after Earth.
Mars is called the red planet.
The land is like a desert.
It is made of red dust and rock.
There are dust storms there.
There are volcanoes and craters.

Jupiter:
Jupiter is the planet after Mars.
It is called a gas giant because it is made of gas.
The clouds there are orange and white.
There are storms there.
The giant red spot is a storm.
Jupiter is bigger than all the planets put together.

Saturn:
Saturn comes after Jupiter.
It is made of gas and has 7 rings.
The rings are made of rock and ice.
You can see the rings with a telescope.
It is too cold to breathe the air.
A spaceship could not land on Saturn.

Uranus:
Uranus is the 7th planet from the Sun.
It is called a gas giant and ha rings.
The rings are made of rock and dust.
Uranus spins on its side.
It is made of gas, clouds, and liquid.
The clouds made Uranus look blue.
A spaceship could not land on Uranus.

Neptune:
Neptune is the 8th planet from the Sun.
Neptune looks blue.
It is made of gas and clouds.
The clouds are white on Neptune.
Neptune is a windy planet.
You cannot stand on this planet.

Dwarf Planet Pluto:
Pluto is the farthest from the Sun.
It is too small to be a planet.
Earth's moon is bigger than Pluto.
It is very cold and dark.
Pluto is made of rock and ice.
Scientists think there are craters on Pluto.
You cannot breathe the air because it is frozen.
