What educators are saying

This was the perfect resource. It has clear expectations and the German is easy enough for German 2 - 5 to read and understand. Thank you!

Description

This collaborative project requires a group of 4 students to plan a trip to 3 German-speaking cities. They start in Kansas City, fly to Europe, take the train to 2 other cities and then fly home. They are given 10,000 Euros to spend, and the final product has to include a budget as well as detailed information about the flight, youth hostels, train connections and sightseeing.

From a design perspective, this project achieves to much. The students are in the drivers seat. Each end product will be unique meaning that each group's journey will be different. Drawing upon previous learning during units on youth hostels, trains and travel, they will navigate authentic German websites to organize their adventure. Many students will actually travel to Germany one day, so this project could potentially come to fruition or at least give students a basis for planing another trip. Finally, this project requires high-order thinking and is embedded in a constructionist learning approach.
