Plan a Trip to Orlando: Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Decimals

I am so fortunate to work alongside a talented and creative partner teacher. Together, we have focused on creating fun and life applicable projects in our math program. This project has been tested with students working in grade 6, 7 and 8 and works well for all!

This resource is a project we built for a diverse group of learners in an Ontario school. We ensure students will:

Adding Decimals, rounding to the nearest hundredth (penny).
Subtracting Decimals, rounding to the nearest hundredth (penny)
Multiplying Decimals by whole numbers
Dividing Decimals by whole numbers
Estimating and budgeting


Not only will students complete a unique project and build real world skills, and math operation knowledge, but they will learn to double check work through peer marking. Students will be doing math questions again and again… and in our experience, loving every moment!
