    Montessori Notation Paper

    Description

Place Value to from 99 to 9 999 999 PowerPoint presentation bundle with animations to help children practice their place value skills. Ideal for any environment including Montessori environments as the color system used is based on the colors used in Montessori classrooms. We have also included notation paper as a bonus file with this bundle.

The colors used in this presentation are symbolic of the following:

    White: The Simple Family

    Grey: The Thousands Family

    Black: The Millions Family

    Green: Ones

    Blue: Tens

    Red: Hundreds

The number on the first slide for each number set is in plain white. Allow the children to copy the number down using the correct color system to indicate that they understand the place value of each number.

They can use physical equipment to form this number. If you are in a Montessori environment, the following equipment can be used:

    • The Golden Beads
    • The Stamp Game
    • The Dot Game
    • The Large Bead Frame
    • The Checkerboard
    • The Long Division Material

They can then write the example in words if they are ready to do so.

The next slide in each number set allows each number to slide into the correct place, followed by the zeros that hold place for the numbers to follow. As the numbers from the example slide into place, the place holders fade to be replaced by the correct number. The result is the number from the previous slide that was represented in white, is now color coded to indicate the place value of each number, which the children can then use as a control of error to check their work.

The final slide in each number set gives the number from the first and second slides in words. If the children are not yet ready to do this, this presentation is a good introduction to seeing the number written in words and the presentation can then be used as practice for this skill at a later stage.

The last two slides of the presentation provide children with further practice in place value without the animations or written form. The last slide serves as a control of error as it is color coded.

This product includes a 6 x 66 slide presentations, including:
