Description

Pick the Pick is a whole class speaking game to review key language chunks from the Boris book.

This is always well received in my classes-no matter what the level. It is a great way to give students an opportunity to produce language in a safe and scaffolded way. You can use it as a review for any language/text.

The word wall surrounding the pictures provides support for students and assists the students to process the language without interrupting the flow of the conversations.

How to play:

1. Print off a copy of the Pick The Pic' PDF attached and give this to one student (the 'picker') The goal is for the picker to pick the correct image from the descriptions given by the classmates.

2. Project the PDF image onto a white board. Choose an image from the 1-6 selection. This is the image that the class will describe to the picker.

3. The picker stands with their back to the screen.

4. The class give hints about the selected image eg "Boris ga imasen" or "Kuroi inu ga imasu" etc. The word wall surrounding the images provides extra support.

5. The picker makes their choice, then asks, eg "Ichiban desu ka".

Once the Picker has picked correctly, a new Picker is picked!!

It's a great activity to pop in your tool kit :)
