What educators are saying

This was a perfect resource for Pi Day, but also to the start of our geometry unit. Students have the book to use as a resource during the unit.
I used everything in this resource with my fourth and fifth graders. It was more than I needed for Pi Day and the students loved the comic story.

Description

Celebrate Pi Day in your fourth, fifth, or sixth grade class with these Pi Day circles, polygons, and 2D figures activities. An original comic book explores the differences between polygons and a circle through a cute and funny story about a circle who discovers that he has special attributes different than polygons. Use six reading comprehension questions and a Venn diagram activity to follow the Pi Day comic.

The game "Guess What?" (a game that plays like the classic kid's game Guess Who) lets students ask questions to deduce their opponent's geometric figure. When they eliminate a geometric figure on their board they mark with a "piece of pi"!

What's Included:

  • Pi Day Comic Book (color or black-and-white)
  • Pi Day Comic Book Reading Comprehesion Questions
  • 2D Figure Venn diagram activity
  • Guess What? Game Board and Cards

Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.
Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
