What educators are saying

I absolutely loved this resource! I used it as an end-of-semester project for students who were working ahead. It combined several concepts and the students really enjoyed learning what and where there is physics that they use every day!

Description

Use this detailed physics choice project for student investigation of three types of movement. Examine physics laws through the lens of flight, speed or sports. Students complete research from multiple sources of information, all web based. The next step is to demonstrate their understanding of both the topic and the physics involved. To do this, students have the choice of presenting their information by creating a product. Possible choices for the project product are: video, infographic, timelines, photo essays and more!

  • There is a “Teacher’s Edition” (TE) slide deck with information just for you!
  • An additional slide deck is for class presentation (CP) - introduce the project to students and use it for daily project pacing
  • Students are guided through the project steps with an editable student planning document

Assessment tools are IB friendly, it includes IB criterion A rubric

8.6B - differentiate between speed, velocity, and acceleration

8.6C - investigate and describe applications of Newton’s law of inertia, law of force and acceleration, and law of action-reaction such as in vehicle restraints, sports activities, amusement park rides, Earth’s tectonic activities, and rocket launches (in addition: TEKS 8.3A, 6.8C)

IB ATL Skills for this lesson -

Self management - plan short and long term assignments, meet deadlines.

Research - make connections between various sources of information
