Description

This resource was created to provide examples of several types of assessment in physical education. This resource includes:

  • a description of a high school community, physical education program goals/learning objectives, basketball unit objectives, volleyball unit objectives, badminton unit objectives, and fitness unit objectives. Within each of these unit objectives are 3 psychomotor objectives, 3 cognitive objectives, 3 affective objectives, and 3 physical fitness objectives.
  • brief description of the following assessment tests (such as how to utilize it within the program): check for understanding, written tests, checklists, rating scales, journals, heart rate monitors, skills test rubric, peer observation, and the SOFIT scale.
  • unit block plan of basketball skills/assessments for each day of a 5 week unit.
  • recommendations on how to grade these four sports based on the different types of assessments
  • example of a 15 question written test on badminton
  • 5 criteria rubric with criteria explained on volleyball
  • checklist on fitness
  • 3-2-1 rating scale on basketball
  • 5 question check for understanding on fitness
  • 3 question check for understanding on badminton
  • 2 question journal entry for fitness
  • sample score sheet for fitness
