Description
Phonics Fun with syllables ending in -le is designed to give students multiple approaches to learning words with final syllables that end in -le.
The 28-page packet includes learning the nine -le syllables, decoding sample words, Mystery Words worksheets (where students figure out the correct -le ending using context clues), writing worksheets emphasizing syllable division and phonograms, flipbooks and a pretest.
Many students read words ending in -le “whole-word” fashion as a six or seven block of letters. In reality, the words are simple two-syllable words with the first syllable usually having a Vc chunk. Once students learn that the -le syllable is a syllable dividing place of the word, the -le words become easily decodable.
Because -le syllable words appear infrequently in normal reading situations, teachers often need to make a special effort to help their students learn these words.
