What educators are saying

My students loved learning about Colonial Pets!! It was so fun to learn about baby squirrels. So fun and engaging!! I also love that Jennifer teaches for a few minutes. It really gives me a break.
What a great way to end our American Revolution unit! It was a great way to give them a break from stuff that they "had" to learn.

Description

Pets were important in Colonial America, just like today. For many of us, pets are members of the family. This sentiment was also true for individuals living in Colonial America.

Horses, dogs, and cats were popular pets, but there were other pets that stole the hearts of colonists, as well. Songbirds and squirrels lived in some colonists' homes.

This lesson will help students to make connections between the 18th Century and their modern lives.
