I introduce our persuasive posters and we learn about persuasive vocabulary words: reason, I think, opinion, should, because, conclusion, etc.
This persuasive unit builds off of what we learned in our opinion writing unit.
Now, instead of just giving our opinion about something, we actually have to convince others that we are right.

- Students are prompted to give three reasons to support that opinion and persuade others that they are correct.
- Differentiated options are included so all students can be successful with this activity.
Persuasive Letters
Students love to write persuasive letters!
- Six different themes are included for students to write about.
- First, students choose a prompt and fill in the graphic organizer to get their ideas down on paper.
- Next, there are four differentiated persuasive letter formats they can choose from.
- Students can trace, complete the sentence frame or write their letter on their own.
Writing Crafts
Two writing themes and crafts are included:
- Students write to persuade their teacher to adopt a class leprechaun.
- Students write to Santa that they deserve to get three new presents.
After going through the persuasive writing process and finalizing their essay, students can color, decorate and cut out their Santa or Leprechaun craft.
Glue their writing piece to their craft and display on a bulletin board or in your hallway.
Build the Best Sundae - Craft + Persuasive Writing
- Adorable sundae toppings can be colored and cut out to "build" a sundae on construction paper.
- Color pictures are also included that can be laminated and reused.
- Students love to pick their favorite toppings and compare their sundae with their classmates.
- Students then write a persuasive essay that their sundae is the best!
Idea: After completing this writing project and craft, celebrate their hard work with a sundae party!
Writing Prompts + Word Banks
3 themes are included:

- Elect me for President!
- Which dessert should we have?
Picture word bank assist students with ideas, spelling and vocabulary. Multiple graphic organizers, sentence starters and writing papers are included to complete this project. Students go through the entire writing process to write a persuasive piece.
