What educators are saying

I loved to see the kids excitement to see their names in print ( we had worked on recognizing their names). nWorked with AAC student on matching animals and names of objects in the reader with tabs on his device.
My kiddos loved these readers! We have done 5 senses and the color monsters and they love seeing their names in each book. Thanks so much!

    Description

Editable name books meet emergent readers! Beginning readers and even pre-readers will love seeing their own names on every page of their little books. Use these booklets to motivate children to read, work on name recognition, and practice early sight words.

    EASY PREP

These books are easy prep for you. Just type each student’s name once, and the names will automatically fill in on every page of the book. There’s no re-ordering of pages – everything prints out ready to just cut and staple.

    EMERGENT READERS COMPARED

To see each individual reader follow the links above. Here is an overview with differences pointed out for you:

Color/Monsters –Quarter-page sized books featuring color words and friendly monsters. Uses 6 color words and the following sight words: sees, a, all, the, like, to, see

Dinosaurs – Half page size books about a trip to a dinosaur museum. Your little dino fans will need to be able to identify dinosaurs from pictures in order to “read” the big words: t-rex, apatosaurus, stegosaurus, pteranodon, triceratops. Sight words used: likes, to, go, the, see, loves, all

Farm – Half page size books about visiting a farm. Sight words used: will, find, a, at, the, love, to, go

Zoo – Quarter-page size books about a day at the zoo. Sight words used: at, like, go, see, to, the, will

Months of the Year – Half page size books that show what your students see each month of the year. Sight words used: sees, a, in, the, all

Weather/Days of the Week – Half page size books feature your student giving the daily weather forecast. Uses days of the week names and picture-cued weather words, plus the following sight words: be, it, on, says, there, will

See above for a complete listing of what else is included. I keep adding more readers!

    HOW DOES THIS RESOURCE WORK?

All you need to edit student names is a computer (not an iPad) and Adobe Reader (which is free, and there’s a link to it in the file just in case you don’t have it already)

The fonts shown are already embedded in each resource. You won’t have to download any fonts. The files are ready to go! Please note that this means you also cannot change the fonts.

The form where you type student names has space for either 4 or 8 names, depending on the book format. However, you can create an unlimited number of personalized readers by reusing the file over and over again.

Long names such as Charlotte and Christopher will fit perfectly on the pages. Even longer names are handled differently depending on the book, but rest assured that you will be able to include all names up to the length of 13 w’s (w is the widest letter, so I used that to measure).
