Personal Space Bundle for Special Education

This product is designed to support students learning about appropriate personal space. It may be helpful for students with autism who have difficulty with this social skill. Worksheets included are to be used in conjunction with discussions about ‘personal space circles’ and ‘the one arm rule’. Includes worksheets, sorting activity, a social narrative, visual supports and 3 classroom posters.

Suitable for Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, Year One and Special Education classrooms.

Level One:

• Students drag and drop the children onto the image so that they are displaying good personal space. If students put the images on top of one another they will not be able to continue. 10 slides included. Each slide has 3 students.

Level Two:

• Students drag and drop a person into the correct space bubble (personal space, social space or public space). This requires students to think about how the size of their personal space bubble should change depending on who they are with. People in the community go in the 'public' or 'wave' space bubble, where family and close friends can go into the 'personal' or 'hug' space bubble. People such as teachers and coaches go into the 'social' or 'hi-5' space bubble. 20 slides included.

Quiz:

• 16 true or false questions
• Students are able to self-correct if they answer incorrectly.
• Slides can not be shuffled.
• A teacher or adult will need to read the questions to the student playing.
• Sample questions: "It's okay to jump on my friends while they are working at their desk", "Entering someones personal space can make them feel angry".
