Description

A Narrative Poem is a poem that tells a story and appeals to human interest. This lesson begins with a Narrative Poem that takes place in the 1950’s and tells a "story" about one child’s secret place... a place where she can go when she wants to be alone. Most children have such a place.
Written in Achievement Test Format and aligned with Common Core Standards, this lesson will introduce students to creating Narrative Poetry. At the same time, it will provids relevant practice and/or review of multiple ELA objectives, including:
-Literal, Inferential and Evaluative questions.
-Figurative Language: Simile,
Metaphor, Personification
-Writing Process
-Footnotes
-Assessments: Rubric, Checklist
and Scoring Sheet
