What educators are saying

This really helped keep my daughter organized when she does personal narrative essays. Helped me too when going over her essay after!

Description

This four-page graphic organizer includes two pre-writing pages, one lined page for writing the rough draft, and a scoring rubric.

The writing prompt asks students to write about an event that changed their lives. The graphic organizer is formatted for a five-paragraph narrative. This graphic organizer reinforces vocabulary associated with narratives such as exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution while helping students to organize the details of their narratives into paragraphs.

The scoring rubric is intended to be used for feedback for revision; it can also be used as a final scoring device--you will simply assign the number of points to each indicator.

***I highly recommend that you model the writing process for your students. I write a personal narrative along with my 8th graders using this graphic organizer. The quality of their work is greatly improved when they see authentic writing in action.
