What educators are saying

This is an amazing resource! My students loved the interactive peice and were highly engaged. I am so happy I purchased this resource.
This product is amazing. My kids were in awe of the interactive features, and they thought the penguin theme was hilarious!

Description

The Perfect Verb Tenses are usually the trickiest for English language learners to master. Even native speakers of English who can use them correctly often don’t understand why and how they are using them! This interactive PowerPoint presentation provides students with a fun explanation of how each of these tenses (Present Perfect, Past Perfect, and Future Perfect) work. An animated penguin explains when each tense is useful, and provides multiple concrete examples of how to use them. The first part of the show runs automatically, and then there are road signs to click on so that the teacher can present the lesson at whatever pace is needed, stopping for further clarification when necessary. There is no sound in the presentation--except of a short clip of music that plays when the penguin is giving feedback to students for getting an answer wrong or right. This way, the teacher can read the part of the penguin, and/or have students read the example sentences. The show is 37 slides long, and will take approximately 25 minutes to present, depending on how much discussion there is of the examples, and how long the students take to answer the interactive quiz questions. The interactive presentation can be done as a whole class activity at the SMARTboard, and then you might want to provide students with additional practice by having it available at a computer for students to check their understanding during centers. (The presentation will give them automatic feedback for right or wrong answers). I have also provided an additional 20 question PDF handout that can be used as a follow-up assessment. Please note: Both the PDF and the PowerPoint presentation are un-editable.

This presentation is aligned to meet Common Core Standards L.5.1.B; L.5.1.C; and L.5.1.D, but it can be used as a review for ESL students of any age (as long as they don’t mind the cuteness of the penguin graphics)!

Technical Tips: You might have to click on 'Read Only' the first time you start the show, but after that it will run automatically until you get to the first image of a road sign. At that point, you can go through at your own pace by clicking, or simply using the arrow keys on your computer keyboard. (If you accidentally advance too quickly and want to go back to review something, you can always use the back arrow on your keyboard).

Your download includes:

1) Animated PowerPoint Show (Works on Mac or PC).

2) Printable Follow-Up Assessment (Tests students on when to use the     Present/Past/Future Perfect tenses)

3) Teacher Answer Key for the Assessment
