Pentatonic Memory Game using the Chinese Zodiac - do, re, mi, so, la
- PowerPoint Presentations
Description
Teach, practice and assess ear and voice skills using the major pentatonic scale (do, re, mi, so, la) with this beautiful, animated game. The 12 memory 'cards' use the animals from the Chinese Zodiac (pentatonic/cultural connection and great for Chinese New Year). Behind each card is one of six pentatonic melody patterns, visually spaced and with solfege in the note heads. Students attempt to find each pattern's match while singing, signing, and/or listening. Each melody pattern can be played by clicking on the notes. You can make this a simple listening & comparison activity for younger students or challenge more skilled students to sing and sign the patterns without using the sound clips. This may be used as a class activity or center and provides enjoyable, engaging opportunities for practice and assessment. Instructions are included in the introductory slide.
This is an animated PowerPoint Show, but you can still use this product even if you don't have PowerPoint by downloading the PowerPoint Viewer at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6 . I have put many many hours into programming this game, and I think you'll be delighted with its eye-catching graphics, sound clips and easy navigation.
