The included writing templates come in various formats to meet the needs of your classroom. These range from templates that would work for Pre-K - 4th Grade.

How to Use This Activity
Writing Prompts:
•My favorite color pencil to use is ____ because…
•Pencils or Pens? Which are better & why?
•I couldn’t believe it when the pencil… (spooky or funny story)
Activity Ideas:
•Have students design their own pencils. Use the blank writing template to create an advertisement to sell their pencil! Have students or teachers vote on the winning design and advertisement.
•Bring in different brands/types of pencils (Ticonderoga, Walmart brand, mechanical, the kind you pull from the bottom and add to the top to refill.) Have students “test” each pencil. Have them vote on the best. Create a graph together!
•Read, “Pencils on Strike” & have students write a persuasive essay convincing the pencils to come back!
