Description
I hope this resource will save your sanity like it's saved mine!
Despite my constant reiteration and lessons on revising/editing, I still had numerous students submitting writing to me that needed a lot more revision. So, I started having my students revise each other's work, and it's been a huge game changer. I created this Peer Revision Checklist as a guide for students to use when they read through their partner's work. There's something about another set of eyes on the writing that eliminates the last few errors before it gets to YOU!
I have used this checklist when students are revising a narrative on paper as well as on a shared GoogleDoc. I always teach students how to use the comment feature on GoogleDocs before starting the peer revision. I tell them that if they check "Not Yet" or "Almost" on the checklist, there should be a comment left on the actual document so the author knows what to change. Similarly, if students are revising on paper, I may give them a highlighter or pen to write comments. I always have students review the checklist with their partner when they are done to explain the various changes they recommend.
I hope you enjoy this resource! As always, you can reach me at teachinginmyrightmind@gmail.com or in Q & A.
